Beauty

Today’s post, is strictly for my ladies out there, but men feel free to tune in as well. Today I’m going to be real with you and we are going to talk about beauty, both internal and external. When I googled the definition of beauty, what I found was astounding. Google says beauty is a combination of qualities, such as shape, color, or form, that pleases the aesthetic senses, especially the sight. Anytime the word beauty is mentioned, everyone’s mind always turns straight to external beauty. The type of beauty they see on the cover of magazines or on tv shows/movies. The type of beauty with no flaw or imperfection. The type of beauty that goes hand in hand with perfect. Well I’m here to tell you, that’s all so unsettling and so wrong. Do not conform to the standards of this world!! But find your identity in our Lord Jesus Christ. Beauty is having flaws. Beauty is being unique. Beauty is being imperfect. Most importantly beauty is being yourself!!!

“You are altogether beautiful my darling; there is NO flaw in you” Song of Solomon 4:7

LADIES, this is so important. I want you to know how beautiful you are. Both men and women, I NEED you to know that God created you exactly how you were meant to be. He took time and molded YOU together making you into his perfectly imperfect creation and he makes NO mistakes.

“She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her; those who hold her fast will be blessed.” Proverbs 3:15-18

I have so many days where I look in the mirror and think ugly thoughts about myself, but when I do that, I’m literally telling God that he messed up when he made me. God makes absolutely no mistakes and we are so beautiful to him. We are treasures to him. He tells us we are more precious than RUBIES. That he have a long life in one of our hands and in the other we have riches and honor. Girls, we need to love ourselves. You are beautifully and wonderfully made. Realize that external beauty is not the only thing that matters. Be beautiful on the inside too. We are called to love those around us. Make everyone you come in contact with feel like they matter and they are important. But in order to love others, you have to learn to love yourself first!! My challenge to you is every time you look in the mirror, instead of finding everything you don’t like, start finding 3-5 things that you do like about yourself and what you find beautiful about how God made you!!!

“It is not fancy hair, gold jewelry, or fine clothes that should make you beautiful. No, your beauty should come from inside you –the beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit. That beauty will never disappear and it is worth very much to God.” 1 peter 3:3-4

“Mightier than the waves of the sea is His love for you.” Psalm 93:4
