My bucket list

I want to steer in a different direction with my post today, and share with y’all a few things included on my bucket list!!!

I know you’re sitting there thinking “this girl is crazy, no way.” But I just want to make the most out of my life and experience everything I have the chance to!!! I know once I get up in the plane and it’s time for me to jump, I’ll be regretting my adrenaline-taking-over decision but I’ll probably have my dad next to me to push me out, seeing as he’s the only one with guts like me in the fam. (Thanks dad)

Safari 🐘

Well, if you know me personally, you know I am in love with elephants. Elephants are my all time favorite. They are such beautiful creatures of God! They are extremely smart, having the largest brain of all land animals. They show empathy, mourn their dead, understand human body language,  have an extrordinary memory, and they connect with humans on a different level, a personal level. They are among the smartest animals on the planet. And for that I have to see them in their natural habitat and fawn over their beauty. And not only elephants, but all of the wild animals in their home!!!

Intently visit every continent

I think it is so important to see cultures and surroundings different from your own. That’s how you learn and grow. I want to observe and explore people from different countries daily lives and task and how they react with one another. What foods they eat. What clothes they wear. Do they have access to the heaven sent food we call Chick-fil-A??

Change someone’s life

One day I want to meet someone and be able to have such an impact on them, that I change their whole life around. I want to find someone so broken and lonely, that needs a friend and I want to show them a light in their dark world. I want to show them Jesus Christ. For those of you reading, think of it like this: every single person has a candle inside of them waiting to be lit. And as believers, it’s our job to find those people with no light, and make their candle burn. Find those people with their candle barely flickering, and add more fire to it. It all starts with us!!!
Open my own bridal boutique or wedding planning business

I’m a fashion merchandising major with a minor in business. I’ve always loved to watch “say yes to the dress” and been fascinated with all things wedding!!! The idea of two different lives combining into one. To have a forever companionship. It’s just all so intriguing and I want to help people’s dream of a wedding come true. It would be such a dream of mine to open up my own personal bridal boutique where I can cater to all women in need of a beautiful gown for their special day. I also would love to have my own wedding planning business! I mean, how amazing would it be to contribute to the happiness of the bride by making her special day even more perfect! That’s all I could ever want.

Visit all 50 states

I’ve only been to 4 out of the 50 states and that just doesn’t sit right with me. There’s so much to see out there in the world, so might as well start with my own country. I definitely have FOMO (fear of missing out) so this just won’t do. I want to go and see, I don’t want to sit and watch. Who’s up for an across country road trip!!!

Learn to play the ukulele

I’ve always want to be musically talented, but I definitely wasn’t given that gift. With that said, I’ve heard the ukulele isn’t too hard to learn and I would like to have that skill in my back pocket just in case anyone ever needs someone to be the entertainment for their various events 😉

Write my own book

Even though this is a long shot and I will probably never make it past chapter 1, I would love to try and pour out my heart into a story. A heart-wrenching fiction for readers young, old, male, or female. Who knows if that’ll ever happen but stay tuned.
Thanks for reading all of my crazy fantasies!!! If I listed all of them, you’d be here all day so there’s just a taste of my craving to see MORE and do MORE.

*Comment and share some of the things on your bucket list, I would love to hear about it!

So today I want to share with y’all that life goes on. Life goes on past the failures, past the breakups, past the bad grades, past the sadness. Tomorrow is a new day to wake up with a better attitude for a better day. If I’ve learned anything during all of my sad times, it’s that my sadness is not permanent. It’s actually a really cool concept that if you’ve had a horrible no good very bad day, the next day is a completely new clean slate for you to start over on. A new day with new experiences, new people, new blessings, a new attitude, a new smile. One of my favorite quotes ever is “if it’s raining, look for a rainbow and if it’s dark outside, look at the stars.” Even during your bad days, it is so important that you look at the big picture and how many things you have in your life to be happy about. How many blessings you have instead of how many you don’t. It is more than okay to have bad days, but on those days just stop and thank God for all in your life that brings you joy. You are so important and loved. Tomorrow is a new day so make it a good day!!!

Today’s post, is strictly for my ladies out there, but men feel free to tune in as well. Today I’m going to be real with you and we are going to talk about beauty, both internal and external. When I googled the definition of beauty, what I found was astounding. Google says beauty is a combination of qualities, such as shape, color, or form, that pleases the aesthetic senses, especially the sight. Anytime the word beauty is mentioned, everyone’s mind always turns straight to external beauty. The type of beauty they see on the cover of magazines or on tv shows/movies. The type of beauty with no flaw or imperfection. The type of beauty that goes hand in hand with perfect. Well I’m here to tell you, that’s all so unsettling and so wrong. Do not conform to the standards of this world!! But find your identity in our Lord Jesus Christ. Beauty is having flaws. Beauty is being unique. Beauty is being imperfect. Most importantly beauty is being yourself!!!

“You are altogether beautiful my darling; there is NO flaw in you” Song of Solomon 4:7

LADIES, this is so important. I want you to know how beautiful you are. Both men and women, I NEED you to know that God created you exactly how you were meant to be. He took time and molded YOU together making you into his perfectly imperfect creation and he makes NO mistakes.

“She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her; those who hold her fast will be blessed.” Proverbs 3:15-18

I have so many days where I look in the mirror and think ugly thoughts about myself, but when I do that, I’m literally telling God that he messed up when he made me. God makes absolutely no mistakes and we are so beautiful to him. We are treasures to him. He tells us we are more precious than RUBIES. That he have a long life in one of our hands and in the other we have riches and honor. Girls, we need to love ourselves. You are beautifully and wonderfully made. Realize that external beauty is not the only thing that matters. Be beautiful on the inside too. We are called to love those around us. Make everyone you come in contact with feel like they matter and they are important. But in order to love others, you have to learn to love yourself first!! My challenge to you is every time you look in the mirror, instead of finding everything you don’t like, start finding 3-5 things that you do like about yourself and what you find beautiful about how God made you!!!

“It is not fancy hair, gold jewelry, or fine clothes that should make you beautiful. No, your beauty should come from inside you –the beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit. That beauty will never disappear and it is worth very much to God.” 1 peter 3:3-4

“Mightier than the waves of the sea is His love for you.” Psalm 93:4

The little things

I’m sure you’ve all heard somebody tell you “sometimes the littlest things are the most beautiful.” And not to be anymore cliche but they are totally right. I live in an apartment not far from some train tracks and every single night around midnight, I always hear it’s loud horn as it huffs and puffs along to wherever it may be headed. During the first weeks of this happening, naturally I would dig my head in the pillow thinking “when will it STOPPP.” Until one day when all was quiet and all I could hear were the chirping of crickets, along came the long and powerful “chooo chooo” of the train coming down the tracks, I just thought wow. That is actually really cool. The originality in that sound. The fact that I can hear that sound at all. The fact that I have two ears attached to my head that channel all of the sounds that I hear into my brain that then registers exactly what sound it is that I’m hearing. It is all so mind blowing. Your body has so many working parts that all in a team effort keep your heart beating and your blood flowing and allows you to live another day. This whole earth has different systems and people that work together to make it go round. Somebody went to college and had to learn how to put trains together, he then made that very train that chugs along not far from my house. There are then people who load the train of whatever is needed to be transported, that train is then sent across the city/state/country to its destination where different people will take it from there. It’s just so insane to think about how all of the tiny details in the world are so important in the grand scheme of things. The littlest things are so intriguing, you just have to be still enough to notice. Not to even get started on the beautiful great big green trees of Nacogdoches, TX, yellow butterflies, the warm rays of the sun, the white puffy clouds in the sky, the cool breeze blowing your hair back, the colorful blooming flowers in the fields, I could go on and on. I can’t express to you how awesome it is to know that God knows exactly how many grains of sand are on the beach and how many hairs are on your head. He created this fabulous beautiful world and made everything perfectly so the world could survive and thrive in his name. If you ever find yourself going through life too fast, take a step back, look around, and appreciate all of the small things that make life so beautiful.

“Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.” John 1:3

Closed doors

In this post, I want to talk about closed doors. Doors you feel like should’ve been opened longer but were slammed in your face. Jobs that didn’t work out, people that have failed you, friendships that have been broken. I’ve been there too. When your mind goes straight to “Maybe my expectations were too high?” “Maybe I was the problem?” “Maybe I wasn’t good enough?” Constantly blaming yourself for every wrong thing that’s happened. But let me tell you, it’s not your fault. Certain doors close because that’s not the place you’re intended to be at. Or maybe it was, but only for the time being. God is so good that he has your whole entire life planned out. He just is waiting for you to ask him what to do. Where to go. When to do it. Life is hard sometimes, I can give you a gigantanormous AMEN to that ladies and gentlemen. But it never ever fails to get better. It may be a few months or maybe even a few years until you realize it, but it does. Prayer is so important and life is going to be a heck of a lot easier if you just give God a shoutout and ask him to guide you through your days and weeks. There is a reason for every single thing that happens in your life and a reason why you are walking the path you are walking. If it hadn’t been for those times that my heart was hurting because of the countless broken friendships I’ve encountered, I definitely would not be who I am right now or on the path I’m on right now. I felt like countless doors were being slammed in my face but it eventually led to the right doors opening. If you are feeling defeated and at a stand still, DO NOT give up. If you get knocked down, stand right back up. You are strong and you can do anything you set your mind to. Trust in the Lord’s plan and he will lead you where you need to go. My life is living proof of that. “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.” Psalm 32:8

Never meet a stranger!!

So if y’all don’t already know, lemme say that God is so good. He made this beautiful earth with every beautiful tiny detailed flower and he made every single beautiful person on this earth with his own hands and molded you exactly the way you were supposed to be molded. We were made perfect in his image. So with that said. No one person is better than any other.  It doesn’t matter what type of car you drive, the brand of your new sunglasses you bought, how great and expensive the house you live in is, or how much money is in your bank account. When we get to heaven all of that is going to be stripped away and the only thing that is going to be looked at is your heart. Where is your heart at? Are you being intentional with your daily actions? Are you loving those around you? Mark 12:30-31 says “Love the Lord your God with all of your  heart and with all of your soul and with all of your mind and with all your strength.  The second is this:  ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” It specifically says LOVE your NEIGHBOR as YOURSELF. I feel like that is not taken as seriously as it should be.  I know you probably hear that verse a lot but like really love is so important. Loving those around you is SO immensely important. LOVE can bring the dead to life. LOVE can move mountains.  It is so sad that nowadays when I walk around campus or through the gym nobody even cracks a smile at me. It truly breaks my heart.  I want to take it personally but I really can’t because that’s today’s norm. The “I’m too good to smile at this random stranger” kind of attitude. It is so disheartening.  One simple smile and one simple act of kindness or love could change someone’s day or even somebody’s life.  You never know what’s going on in somebody else’s head or life at the moment and you should never take advantage of a time when you could show somebody that they have meaning and that they are loved  even if it is by a stranger. That smile that you could’ve smiled, may have been the only positive interaction that they have had that day. LOVE is so important.

Craving to see more

First off, travel is an aspiration of mine. To see the world. To hear new languages. To meet new people. To face new challenges. It’s all so exciting to me. I’m 20 years old and I have my whole life ahead of me. A life that I want to make sure I squeeze every experience I can out of it. I want to be dared. I want to be fearless. I want monkeys to nestle into my hair and latch on tight (as shown above). I want to make a difference in a strangers life.Life is too short to stay in your comfort zone. There’s either being the watcher or being the one watched. Watching is fun and all, but I want to DO. Don’t waste your life, cooped up in one town. BE BOLD and take a risk, you won’t regret it.
